“He is not Our godfather” -Sen. Moye’s godfather Title Rejected

The Bong County Christian Association (BOCA) has publicly distanced itself from the decision to honour Senator Prince Kermue Moye with the title of “Godfather of Bong County”, arguing that it was unilaterally done.

This title was granted by a group of pastors identifying themselves as the Prophetic Call to Ministry Like Mind Pastors.

In a telephone interview on March 29, 2025, Rev. Obediah Canmue, President of BOCA, expressed concerns about the unilateral decision made by these pastors. He stated that the title undermines the objective  the church’s role in the community.

“We have a serious problem with those who give the title godfather to Senator Moye on behalf of the Christian Community,” he said.

Rev. Canmue clarified that while the Christian Community could recognize ordinary honorees, this situation is different. He emphasized that BOCA, as a recognized religious organization, cannot promote division among leaders in Bong County by exercising honorees based on political lines. Their mission, he said, is to foster peace and unity with the county.

The controversy stems from an event held on March 22, 2025, at the Dominion Christian Fellowship Center in Gbarnga, where Bishop Minikon E. Nyenpan Sr. praised Senator Moye’s contributions to the region. Bishop Nyenpan described the title as recognition of Moye’s leadership and commitment to Bong County’s development.

However, Rev. Canmue reiterated that BOCA was not involved in the decision to crown Senator Moye and has held press conferences to inform the public of their position.

He stated that the group plans to certify all Bongese, particularly members of the Bong County Legislative Caucus, rather than singling out one individual for such a title.

Rev. Canmue then highlighted that biblically, the concept of a “godfather” is not recognized; therefore, BOCA has no role in this title.
