The Chairman on Drug and Rehabilitation at the House of Representatives, Thomas Goshua, is seeking drastic actions taken against traffickers, smugglers, and consumers of narcotic drugs and substances in the country. The Grand Bassa County Electoral District #5 Representative emphasized that the issue of fighting the deadly substance drug out of Liberia should be the key focus of government and every stakeholder. He said Liberians need to stand firm to fight the infiltration of narcotic drugs and substances out of the nation, saying this menace is ruining the future of the younger generation and youth adults of the nation state. The Alternative National Congress (ANC) legislator made the statement over the weekend in Monrovia at a program. The House’s Committee Chairman on Drug and Rehabilitation stated that the issue of fighting the infiltration of narcotic drugs and harmful substances here is a matter of national emergency as was being declared by President Boakai. Rep. Goshua informed the gathering that fighting dangerous drugs and substances out of Liberia and rehabilitating those individuals affected from its aftermath, should be the greatest concern of the government and all stakeholders.  According to him, the issue of narcotic drugs and substances coupled with the consumption if same by the youths and grown-ups, is overwhelming the country gradually. Representative Goshua wants the Government of Liberia to provide enough funding to Liberia Drug Enforcement Agency (LDEA) and other relevant institutions in the country to fight drug. The House Committee Chairman on Drug and Rehabilitation emphasized that it would be very important for the government to see reason to provide enough funding to the LDEA towards making the agency proactive in fighting drug out of Liberia.
