With the arrival of at least some pieces of the earh-moving equipment yellow machines), government has announced plans to create 1,000 “new jobs” as part of an initiative to enhance infrastructure development.
The coming of the machines at this time is welcomed in some quarters as a significant boost to the local economy, specifically with the promise to create additional jobs.
This pronouncement comes with the arrival of the first batch of 137, out of the total of 285 earth moving equipment (yellow machines).
The machines Coordinator, Brownie Jeff Samukai, told reporters on Sunday, February 22, 2026, at the Freeport of Monrovia that the “arrival of the machines marks a pivotal moment in our commitment to improve infrastructure, and create employment opportunities for our citizens.”
He said, the 177 pieces of the equipment are to facilitate large-scale construction projects in every part of the.
“The remaining 152 pieces are expected (probably) by next by next year,” a source hinted this newspaper.
The initiative is expected to not only provide immediate job opportunities, but also contribute to long-term economic growth by enhancing the efficiency of construction and public works.
The investment in this equipment is part of a broader strategy to modernize the country’s infrastructure, and stimulate development in various sectors.
By that, Samukai highlighted that the jobs when created, will span various roles, including operators, maintenance
personnel and support staffs, thereby providing diverse opportunities for communities.
“We are focused on ensuring that local talents are utilized to the extent that training programs will be established to equip our workforce with the necessary skills to operate the advanced machineries.”
The first batch of the equipment will be deployed in several key project areas, including road construction, drainage repairs and other “vital infrastructure improvements.”
He said, government has meanwhile, prioritized the projects as part of its commitment to enhance road connectivity and access to essential services for citizens.
Samukai added: “Government plans to continue the rollout of the remaining earth moving equipment in the coming months, with the goal to complete the entire fleet by the end of the year.”
As the initiative progresses, officials will monitor job creation closely to ensure that the projected targets are met, and that the benefits are felt throughout the communities.
This development is seen as a promising sign of recovery and growth, as the government remains committed to invest in the future of its citizens and the infrastructure that supports them.
