National Health Workers Union of Liberia (NAHWUL) Vice President for Operations, Reverend Simon A. Morris, has disclosed ongoing efforts by government to resolve pending issues related to health workers’ salaries and welfares.
”The government is making some strides to settle the issues of health workers’ salaries.”
“Since this government assumed power, the Minister of Health, has actively sought to hear our plight as a means of seeking the welfare of health workers.
The Union has therefore called on the government to double their efforts and address several critical issues that remain unresolved.
Among these are concerns regarding salaries, accommodation, and incentives for health workers, particularly those assigned outside of the capital.
Additionally, the ongoing challenges related to the employment status of volunteers, have called for more support and recognition for their contributions.
Rev. Morris, however acknowledged government’s commitment to engage in dialogue with health workers, noting that the ministry has consistently kept its doors opened for conversations.
The conversations aimed at understanding and addressing the challenges faced by health professionals.
Meanwhile, Rev. Morris has applauded government’s decision to shut down health facilities that doesn’t meet operational requirements to operate in the country.
