Government confirmed making significant gains in electricity distribution, road rehabilitation and education development.
The achievements are parts of President Joseph Nyuma Boakai’s national transformation agenda.
Information Minister Jerolinmek Matthew Piah, told reporters on Tuesday, November 26, 2025, at a regular press briefing.
Piah assured the public that the administration remains committed to improve public services, and accelerate development projects.
He disclosed how the Liberia Electricity Corporation (LEC), is widening its electricity supply to several communities.
Piah: “LEC, working with Chris Electronic Company, has commenced the installation of utility poles, and solar streetlights in Bentol City and surrounding communities.”
The initiative, he said, aims to restore power to areas that have been without electricity since the end of the civil conflict (1989-2003).
“Electrification of Bentol, and its surrounding communities is a major step toward revitalizing economic activities, and improving safety and livelihoods.”
Residents are expected to benefit from improved security, a better business environment, and enhanced social services once the project is complete.
While providing updates on road infrastructure, Piah said, ongoing and planned works are essential to national recovery and regional connectivity.
He said, the rehabilitation along the Bomi, Grand Cape Mount, and Gbarpolu corridors, described as “collective corridors” support regional movement and trade.
He added: “The improvements along Johnson Street’s New Bridge through Clara Town to the Freeport, and Bushrod Island, intend to ease traffic congestion, and promote commerce.”
Planned rehabilitation of southeastern routes, including the roadway leading to former President George Weah’s home community, with completion targeted before the end of the dry season.
Piah noted that these projects are central to Pres. Boakai’s commitment to reopen road networks, boost commerce, and strengthen national integration.
He also restated government’s position on maintaining order and national unity.
Mr. Piah, has meanwhile, cautioned that the administration will not tolerate attempts to interfere with judicial processes or efforts to divide the country along regional or religious lines.
“Regional politics is bad for any country. Pres. Boakai will not allow division based on religion or region, the law is the law.”
Piah has announced how the Ministry of Education (MoE), has taken steps to increase country’s participation in international academic programs.
He said, the Erasmus Reformation Session in Monrovia, bringing together youth leaders, students, educators, and university representatives to explore opportunities offered under the Erasmus+ Program are on course.
The session focused on fully funded scholarships, youth mobility, volunteer programs, and institutional partnerships with European universities.
A major highlight was guidance on the prestigious Erasmus Mundus Joint Master’s Scholarship, which allows students to study in multiple European countries.
For this development, Education Minister, Dr. Jarso Jallah, said the initiative aims to strengthen the education sector, and improve the competitiveness of students and institutions on the global stage.
Mr. Piah said despite political distractions, the administration remains focused on delivering essential services that directly impact the lives of ordinary Liberians.
As the festive season approaches, Piah said citizens can expect ongoing improvements in electricity, roads and education under the government’s broader development drive.
