The Government Liberia has accepted claims of indebtedness to residents within the concession area of the Liberia Agriculture Company in Compound # 3 Grand Bassa County, and has promised to settle the matter amicably.
Agriculture Minister, Dr. J. Alexander Nuetahtolld citizens of the affected communities in the concession area at a stakeholders ‘engagement on Saturday, March 7,2026 that government will calm their tears.
” We have the names of all the affected person’s, and from all the documents I received, l think the Government is indebted to you with a little more than US$ 200.000,” Dr Nuetah said. ” We are obligated to you and l will take this report to the Executive, and afterwards I will organize a meeting with the Elders and Traditional Leaders to report back to you government’ decision, he added.
Minister Nuetah said although it is not the current government that owed the community dwellers, but accepted that government is continuity, and that the Boakai – Koung administration will pay all affected parties.
He revealed that LAC does not owe the communities, rather, it is the Government that is indebted to the communities in the tone of approximately US$ 200.000.
The Agriculture Boss clarified that government has earlier paid about US$ 67.000 to affected communities.
According to Dr. Nuetah, the agreement is dated back to 2004 doing the administration of Interm President Gyude Bryant.
However, he said under President Boakai, the Government will settle its indebtedness to the people of the LAC concession area.
The residents of LAC affected areas complained that LAC encroached on their land, uprooted their crops and made limited or no payment for all crops destroyed.
The Deputy Grand Zoe of Grand Bassa County, Thompson Zuagar, who presented the residents plight said the affect communities dwellers said due to the action of LAC, the citizens were planning unspecified actions.
But due the intervention of government and it acceptance to pay them their balance money, the citizens resolved to abandon all actions pending government’s final decision on the matter.
Dr. Nuetah promised to fully correspond government’s decision on the matter within a – thirty day period.
