Government has announced the imminent arrival of fleets of yellow machines, buses, and spare parts, marking a major boost to the country’s road construction and infrastructure developments.
Information Minister Jerolinmek Matthew Piah, made the disclosure during the Ministry regular press briefing on Tuesday, January 13, 2026.
He said the earth-moving equipment is scheduled for shipment by January 20, with arrival in Liberia expected by March 30.
Piah explained that the procurement process is well on track, with 25 percent of the total cost already paid through the National Road Fund.
He added that arrangements are currently being finalized with UBA Bank to settle the remaining 75 percent, ensuring a smooth and timely delivery of the equipment.
In addition to the yellow machines, Piah announced that Liberia has received significant complementary support at no cost to the government, including 20 buses and 244 containers of spare parts for the machines.
He noted that spare parts for other equipment are also being provided ‘free of charge,’ a development expected to substantially reduce maintenance costs and guarantee the long-term functionality of the machinery.
Piah: “While standard shipping would normally take about 45 days, the government has opted for a 70-day delivery window to allow for proper handling, coordination and safe transportation of the consignment.”
He further revealed that deployment of the equipment across the country is expected to begin during President Joseph Nyuma Boakai’s planned county tour, ensuring that communities nationwide directly benefit from improved road construction, rehabilitation, and maintenance.
Piah described the initiative as a clear demonstration of government’s commitment to strengthen national connectivity, stimulate economic activities and improve access to basic services, particularly in underserved areas.
“This investment in heavy-duty equipment underscores the administration’s resolve to deliver tangible development and improve the quality of life for all Liberians.”
The arrival of the yellow machines and buses is widely seen as a significant step toward accelerating infrastructure development and supporting the government’s broader agenda for inclusive growth and national transformation.
