The President of Grand Kru Technical College (GKTC), Dr. Sarwee Joe-Wiah Faeflen, has called for increased budgetary allocation to the institution.
Dr. Faeflen warned that limited funding could slow GKTC planned academic expansion and institutional development.
He made the statement during a special intercessory prayer service organized by the Harvest Intercontinental Ministries Unlimited Church in Barclayville.
At the occasion, Dr. Faeflen outlined the college’s strategic plans and funding challenges.
He said, the administration has introduced new academic programs, including mass communications, religious studies and nursery education.
It aims at expanding access to higher education and responding to workforce needs in the county.
“These programs are necessary to meet the growing educational demands of our people. However, their successful implementation depends largely on adequate and timely budgetary support,” Dr. Faeflen said.
He acknowledged government’s ongoing support to the institution, but stressed that the current allocation remains insufficient to cover infrastructure, staffing, instructional materials and program development. “An increased budgetary allotment is critical if the GKTC is to fulfill its mandate, and operate competitively with similar institutions in the country.”
The prayer service, held during the church’s regular Sunday worship, brought together the college’s administrators, staff, students, and members of the congregation.
Senior Pastor Reverend J. Tenhnecio Wiah, Sr., offered prayers for the institution, and urged its leadership to combine faith with responsible stewardship.
“Education without direction cannot deliver impact,” Rev. Wiah noted.
He called for wisdom and accountability in the management of public resources.
Dr. Faeflen reaffirmed his administration’s commitment to transparency, accountability, and long-term institutional growth.
He added that increased investment in GKTC would directly contribute to human capacity development in the county.
The program ended with a dedication of the institution to God, and renewed calls for collective support from government, partners and stakeholders to strengthen the GKTC.
