Residents of Gbarnga are breathing a sigh of relief as Bong County authorities initiate a comprehensive road rehabilitation project aimed at easing commutes and boosting local commerce.
The initiative, spearheaded by County Superintendent Loleyah Norris, is injecting a much-needed $75,000 into repairing dilapidated community roads across the city.
Superintendent Norris emphasized the targeted nature of the funding, stating that the allocation will directly address critical sections that have fallen into disrepair, impacting daily lives for Gbarnga’s residents and businesses.
The ambitious project encompasses a wide swath of Gbarnga’s communities, including Kokoyah, Dementa, LPMC, Robbery Factory Community, Brooklyn Community, Taylor’s Street, Camp Tubman Barrack, Jukpenmue Community, Gboveh Hill Community, Civil Compound community, Sugar Hill Community, Millionaire quarter, Lelekpayea Community, Bassa Community, Compound Community, Plum Valley Community, Cotton Tree Community, Barrows Quarter, Gbarbea street, Kulah Village, Mount Zion rescue Mission, Boyle’s Town and Farm Road,Garden School.
Speaking to journalists, Superintendent Norris also highlighted that the rehabilitation effort will extend to Land Mark Community, JB Water Side, Christ Vision, People’s Street, Collins Street and Sayanquelleh roads, ensuring a broad and impactful reach.
The announcement has been met with widespread approval from local residents who anticipate a significant improvement in their daily lives and a positive ripple effect on the city’s overall development.

In a related development, Bong County’s plans for a new junior high school took a big step forward recently. On Saturday, May 31, 2025, officials gathered in Kolietawolah to officially kick off the construction of the Kolietawolah Junior High School. This school will be located in Electoral District #2, aiming to boost education in the area.
During the event, Senator Prince K. Moye and District #2 Representative James Kolleh shared some exciting news about the project. They explained that the project is possible thanks to a $75,000 contribution from the County Development Fund, which is a great boost for local education.
Senator Moye took a moment to speak directly to the residents, stressing the importance of ownership in this project. “This is your project,” he told them.
