Gbarnga ‘Drug Dealers’ Exposed

By Samuel Flomo, Jr

The Liberia Drug Enforcement Agency (LDEA), has dismantled a local drug operation, arresting Emmanuel Mulbah, a money exchanger caught allegedly selling the controlled drug tramadol.

The arrest, orchestrated by LDEA Bong County Commander, Thomas T. Saye, followed a carefully planned operation solely funded by the Agency.

Chaos erupted at the scene when Mulbah family, including his pregnant wife, and elderly mother, tried to prevent his arrest, but LDEA officers held their ground.

Mr. Saye personally intervened, warning that drug traffickers will not escape the law.

According to eyewitness account, LDEA officers seized a visible strip of the tramadol.

Investigations are ongoing, with results expected anytime soon.

According to Saye, the crackdown would extend further.

In a related operation, Mr. Saye has arrested a 40-year-old Vesselee Tokpah, with 32 grams of cocaine, worth US$1,728 (L$328,320), thereby exposing the deadly reach of the local drug trade.

The trade, locals said, continues to poison communities, fueled crime, and threatened public safety.

Tokpah, a known high-profile figure in the local narcotics scene, was reportedly apprehended following targeted investigations that revealed his central role in the illicit network.

“This is a warning to all drug traffickers,” Saye told onlookers, assuring: “We will relentlessly pursue anyone who seeks to destroy our communities with narcotics.”

Local residents have voiced support for the crackdown, but said enforcement alone is not enough, rather a stronger preventive measure to truly oust the menace.
