Roads in Garyea Clan, Bong County Electoral District #5, have become so deplorable, thereby, posing risks to residents, who are experienced unbearable, and nearly non-functioning communities.
One resident, Andrew Johnson, who addressed a team of reporters recently in the district, said potholes, mudslides and eroded surfaces, have turned vital routes into perilous paths.
The situation, Johnson said, has made travels constant hazards for the locals, mainly the students, farmers, traders, who commute daily.
The deteriorating condition of the roads, Johnson said, has disrupted school activities and commerce, as well as access to other essential services.
“Students face dangerous journeys to school, farmers are unable to transport produce efficiently, and traders experience repeated delays that undermine livelihoods. Health facilities and markets have also become hard-to-reach; isolating large segments of the community.
Mr. Johnson told the In Profile daily news” that repeated requests for intervention from government, and local representatives, including lawmaker Eugine JM Kollie, have so far gone unanswered.
He said, the economic consequences have mounted due to delays in reconditioning some of the deplorable spots on the roads.
“The situation has resulted into crop spoilage, loss of income for traders, and higher costs for essential goods. He added that the daily struggle for safe and reliable mobility underscores the urgent need for immediate repair, and long-term maintenance.
“We have called for swift government action to restore road access, and protect lives, and livelihoods. Without intervention, the deteriorating conditions could escalate into accidents, economic setbacks, and further isolate the entire communities,” Johnson said.
He said the situation highlights a pressing need for accountability and infrastructural investment.
With such situations, road conditions in Garyea Clan are reportedly crumbling more than ever before. Is has also inconvenienced the growing threats to safety, commerce, and the overall well-being of the population.
