Gambian Diplomat In Court

“He ‘sold’ a fake diamond to a businessman in Monrovia,” Court record.

A Gambian Diplomat identified as Ishmael Sesay, has been forwarded to the West Point Magisterial Court for allegedly selling a fake diamond to a businessman in Monrovia.

The diamond weighing 7.21 carats was on June 6 2025, sold to one Solomon Kamara, said to be a resident of Monrovia US$10,845.

After the transaction, Mr. Kamara decided to take the ‘stone’ to an unnamed diamond dealer for testing only to find out that it is not a real gem.

The complainant told the court that upon hearing this, he immediately requested the seller to return his money, but to no avail.

Kamara said defendant Sesay kept insisting that he tested the ‘stone’ before selling it to the buyer.

Predicated on the complaint, Sesay along with his co -defendant, identified as Amodu Keita, have been charged with theft of property by deception in keeping with section 51. 51 of the new penal code.

 The Magistrate also commanded Captain Victor Blama, Sheriff of the West Point Magisterial Court to have the two defendants arrested and forwarded for prosecution.
