The Ministry of Health (MoH), has delivered a ‘new ambulance’ to Grand Kru County.
The move aims to strengthen rural healthcare infrastructure, and improve access to essential medical services.
The ambulance forms part of ongoing efforts to enhance the health system by addressing transportation challenges that have long affected patient referrals and emergency response in remote communities.
For residents, where long distances and difficult terrain often complicate access to healthcare, the vehicle is expected to play a critical role in connecting patients to higher-level medical facilities when urgent care is needed.
Health authorities say, the investment represents more than just the addition of a vehicle; it is a step to improve healthcare delivery, reducing preventable deaths, and ensuring that locals receive timely medical attention.
Grand Kru County Health Officer, Dr. Learwellie P. Craig, II, praised MoH authorities and the national government for the support.
Craig described the ambulance as a valuable contribution to the county’s healthcare system.
He said improved emergency transportation will strengthen service delivery and enhance the referral network.
The ambulance will be integrated into the health operations as part of national efforts to build resilient health services, and expand access to quality healthcare.
The development underscores government’s continued investment in public services as well as improve the well-being of citizens and narrowing healthcare gaps between urban and rural communities.
