Grand Kru County Administrative Officer, Alphonso Teah, has threatened the county police commander, Clement Barlatt with a lawsuit.
Teah wants Barlatt prosecuted for “Defamation of Character and Damages.”
Confrontation between the two men intensified when they appeared on community radio stations, and publicly traded accusations against each other for stealing government’s-owned property.
The situation intensified when some residents of Dougbo Community filed a complaint against Barlatt.
They reported Barlatt, claiming that he unilaterally removed a forty-feet container belonging to the community when he was not authorized by any of the county’s officials to do.
Mr. Teah said, the dispute escalated when Barlatt accused him (Teah) of selling a government-owned vehicle under a ‘secret deal.’
“Barlatt, as Commander of the Police, went on the radio, and told the public that I sold a government-owned vehicle. That is completely false, misleading, and damaging to my hard-earned reputation.”
Teah has meanwhile, demanded Barlatt to publicly retract the allegation, and provide clear information on the same media platforms where he made the claims, “or else, I will sue him.”
“I have therefore called on Barlatt to clarify on the airwaves that all accusations he made against me are untrue. If he fails to do so, I will take the matter to court,” Teah warned.
He further alleged that Barlatt had also accused him of selling a police-owned vehicle, a forty-feet container, and scrap materials, claims Teah described as “baseless.”
“At no time have I ever sold a government vehicle or any government property. Barlatt made these allegations without a shred of evidence.”
Teah promised to remain committed to serve the county with integrity and will not allow character attack to go unchecked.
