Authorities at the Ministry of Health (MoH) have commissioned a new drug depot in Grand Kru County.

According to MoH officials, the latest development in the health sector, is to improve the timely delivery of essential medicines and strengthen healthcare system in the county.

Officials say the facility will serve as a central storage and distribution point for medical supplies to health facilities, helping to reduce shortages and improve service delivery.

The county is made up of five health districts, including the one in Barclayville, the political capital, Trehn, Forpoh, Sasstown, and Buah, which collectively oversee 24 health facilities, with one hospital, four health centers, and 19 clinics.

The project was sponsored by the Global Fund, with implementation support from Plan International.

Health authorities describe the development as a key step to improve efficiency in the county’s medical supply chain and ensure more reliable access to healthcare services.
