G/Kru College Becomes Political ‘Battleground’

By Emmanuel Koffa

What should be a center of learning and professional growth is reportedly being transformed into a political battlefield.

The allegation of partisan interference, demotions, and payroll manipulation, now rock the campus of the Grand Kru Technical College (GKTC).

Sources inside the college say, since the new president assumed office, top positions are being handed to loyalists and former office staff, sidelining “experienced administrators.”

The situation is said to have undermined the college’s merit-based governance.

At the center of the controversy is Tehneseo Brohdonyen, former vice president for Academic Affairs.

Brohdonyen was recently demoted to dean of academic affairs and, according to insiders, his name has been removed from the government payroll without explanation; an unprecedented action raising fears of political victimization.

Sources allege that Brohdonyen’s affiliation with the opposition Congress for Democratic Change (CDC) may have prompted the decisions, while other key appointments are reportedly designed to please political actors, including Senator Nimene Bartekwa.

Though Bartekwa is yet to speak to the issue, staff members describe an atmosphere of fear and uncertainty, with many hesitant to speak out lest they face similar repercussions.

Students are reportedly feeling the impact as administrative instability disrupts academic planning and guidance.

Efforts to obtain a response from the college

administration remain unsuccessful up to press time late last night.
