Foreign Minister Receives Ireland Ambassador’s Letter of Credence

Ireland’s Ambassador-designate to Liberia, Gérard Considine, has presented his letter of credence to  Foreign Minister,  Sara Beysolow Nyanti. According to a release from the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, dated July 12, 2024, the presentation ceremony is aimed to cement the relationship between both countries, marking a notable step in strengthening the bilateral relations between Ireland and Liberia. In his address, the release noted that the Ambassador-designate Considine reiterated Ireland’s unwavering commitment to supporting Liberia through principles of equality, cooperation, and inclusivity. Receiving the copy of the letter of credence on behalf of Liberia, Foreign Minister Nyanti, expressed her gratitude and optimism regarding the strengthened partnership between the two nations. The presentation of the copy of the letter of credence was followed by a discussion on key areas of interest and future collaborations, the release said. “Both parties expressed their determination to work closely on international platforms to address common challenges such as climate change, poverty alleviation, and peacebuilding”, the release added. However, Ambassador Considine also highlighted the cultural ties between the two countries, and the ceremony concluded with a mutual pledge to strengthen the bilateral ties which will see the two-nations working together for the betterment of their respective countries. The Foreign Ministry committed that the presence of other dignitaries and officials from the Ministry of Foreign Affairs underscored the importance of the diplomatic engagement, adding, Ireland’s commitment to Liberia is a testament to the strong bonds of friendship and cooperation that have been nurtured over the years.  “The collaboration between the two nations is poised to bring about meaningful progress and development, benefiting the citizens of both countries. Ireland and Liberia share a rich history of diplomatic relations characterized by mutual respect and cooperation,” the release stated. The Government of Ireland first opened a development cooperation office in Liberia in 2010. This was upgraded to an Embassy in 2018 to demonstrate Liberia’s commitment to deepening and strengthening the relationship and close ties between Liberia and Ireland. Source: LINA
