The Minister of Foreign Affairs, Sara Beysolow Nyanti, on Friday, November 21, 2025, received the Letters of Accreditation of the new World Health Organization (WHO) Country Representative to Liberia, Dr. Olushayo Olu, during a brief ceremony held in the conference room of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs.
Welcoming Dr. Olu to Liberia, Foreign Minister Nyanti reaffirmed the Government of Liberia’s commitment to strengthening the health sector, promoting proactive healthcare delivery, and ensuring stronger national resilience to prevent future global pandemics.
She assured the new WHO Country Representative of the Ministry’s full support in enabling a productive and impactful tenure in Liberia.
“We are delighted to welcome you and look forward to strengthening our partnership with WHO in addressing critical health and curative issues. Liberia remains committed to ensuring that health systems are strengthened and that all citizens have the opportunity to contribute meaningfully to national development,” Minister Nyanti stated.
She encouraged Dr. Olu to continue forging strong partnerships with relevant government ministries and agencies, particularly sectoral ministries, to enhance the reach and impact of WHO’s programs in the country.
Foreign Minister Nyanti further noted that under President Joseph NyumaBoakai’s ARREST Agenda for Inclusive Development (AAID), the Government continues to prioritize the fight against diseases and the improvement of public health services.
“Despite the challenges, Liberia is making tremendous strides in addressing health-related issues and will continue to partner with international organizations like WHO to ensure that the rights and dignity of Liberians are protected,” she added.
For his part, Dr. Olu commended the Government of Liberia for the significant progress made in promoting quality health delivery across the country. He assured the Foreign Minister that WHO remains committed to working closely with the Government of Liberia to support national initiatives aimed at strengthening healthcare and disease prevention. He pledged to build on the solid foundation laid by his predecessor while identifying new priority areas for collaboration.
The accreditation ceremony concluded with renewed commitments from both the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and WHO to deepen cooperation in advancing quality healthcare for the people of Liberia.
The World Health Organization, established by the United Nations, serves as the UN’s lead agency mandated to promote global health and support countries in addressing key health challenges.
