For Minister of State’s Post:

Dr. Rex Dahn Wins Opinion Polls

In the wake of shifting national leadership needs following the passing of the Minister of State for Presidential Affairs Sylvester Grisby, the search for credible figures of integrity, competence, and experience has intensified. Among the few names widely discussed, Dr. Kadiker Rex Dahn stands out as a formidable candidate whose profile reflects a blend of scholarship, public service, and unifying leadership.

A distinguished scholar

Dr. Dahn is widely respected for his academic excellence and civic contributions. He earned a Ph.D. in Historical, Philosophical, and Social Foundations of Education and a M.Ed. in Educational Administration, Curriculum, and Supervision from the University of Oklahoma. He also holds an M.A. in Christian Education from Gordon-Conwell Theological Seminary in Massachusetts.

His doctoral studies were notably supervised by the late Ambassador Edward Joseph Perkins, a prominent U.S. diplomat who once served as Ambassador to Liberia, South Africa, Australia, and the United Nations. This mentorship gave Dr. Dahn not only scholarly depth but also invaluable diplomatic insight and international connections that uniquely position him to strengthen U.S.-Liberia ties.

Service to country

Over the years, Dr. Dahn has served his country with distinction in senior roles, including as Deputy Minister of Education and Deputy Director General of the National Commission on Higher Education. In these capacities, he championed policies aimed at expanding access to quality education and improving standards in Liberia’s schools and universities.

Beyond government, he has been a consistent voice in national discourse—publishing critical works on governance, education, and Liberia’s social challenges, including studies on the struggles of exiled Liberian women. He has also spoken boldly on governance, once remarking that “an incompetent government is a government where each ministry and agency speaks for itself.”

Commitment to peace and unity

Dr. Dahn has been a steady advocate for unity and responsible leadership in Nimba County, particularly in the aftermath of Senator Prince Y. Johnson’s passing. His emphasis on reconciliation and educational equity reflects a vision for inclusive development, where children from every background enjoy equal opportunities.

Recognized by President Boakai

Importantly, Dr. Dahn enjoys a long-standing relationship of trust with President Joseph Nyuma Boakai. During the 2023 General Elections campaign, candidate Boakai—while addressing Liberians in the diaspora on September 19, 2023—openly acknowledged Dr. Dahn, exclaiming:

“Dr. Rex Dahn, when you came? Dr. Dahn is one of my strongmen from Nimba.”

Dr. Dahn’s loyalty and sacrifices in support of the Unity Party’s campaign and its eventual victory.

A statesman in waiting

Observers say that Dr. Dahn’s high-profile academic background, proven government service, and international connections through Ambassador Perkins uniquely qualify him for a senior national leadership role. His humility, patience, and unifying leadership style make him not just a scholar and policymaker, but a statesman in waiting.

Frustration in Exile

Yet, despite his contributions and loyalty, Dr. Dahn now resides in the United States, reportedly with deep frustration over what he views as abandonment and sidelining by the very government he helped bring to power. To many, this represents more than personal disappointment; it highlights a troubling national trend of overlooking qualified, committed Liberians at a time when their wisdom and service are most urgently needed.

The Crossroads

As Liberia confronts governance challenges and the need to deepen international partnerships, voices are growing louder that the country should not neglect figures like Dr. Kadiker Rex Dahn. His blend of scholarship, integrity, and statesmanship, coupled with proven loyalty to President Boakai, makes him an asset that Liberia can ill afford to waste.
