Fire Incident in Grand Kru County Leaves Two Hospitalized…… Emmanuel Koffa

Following a tragic fire incident that has sent shockwaves through the Dougbo Community of Grand Kru County, two individuals identified as Urey Flomo, age 48, and his wife, Ma-Nancy Martin, age 68 have been hospitalized following a fire that erupted in their residence.

Reports indicate that when the fire broke out, the two victims were awakened by the sour odor of smoke and quickly alerted community dwellers of the Dougbo community.

Eyewitnesses are quoted as saying; in their attempt to escape, they both suffered burns and smoke inhalation, necessitating immediate medical intervention.

According to eyewitnesses’, victim Urey Flomo, and his wife, Ma-Nancy Martin reportedly sustained severe injuries and they are currently receiving treatment at J.J. Donson Hospital in Happer, Maryland County.

The fire reportedly broke out late on Wednesday night, May 28, 2025 engulfing the two victims’ home which reportedly led to a frantic rescue effort by community members.

Eyewitnesses described the scene as chaotic, with flames rapidly consuming the structure after neighbors rushed to assist in extinguishing the fire and ensuring the couple’s safe evacuation in the area.

Both Ma-Nancy Martin and victim Urey Flomo have been described as robust victims who narrowly escaped what could have been a fatal incident.

According to medical personnel at the hospital, both victims are in critical condition but are receiving the necessary care and attention.

Meanwhile, local authorities of the Liberia Fire Service have not yet determined the cause of the fire, but accordingly, an investigation is currently underway.
