A devastating fire engulfed a house in the Shoes Factory neighborhood early Friday morning, March 27, resulting in the death of a 5-year-old boy.

The blaze also left the family and community in shock as many residents, mainly the women uncontrollably wailed.

The fire broke out at approximately 3 a.m., while the family was in deep sleep. Eyewitnesses reported that the flames quickly consumed the home; destroyed everything in its path.

Efforts by neighbors, who rushed to extinguish the fire were in vain.

“We tried everything we could to help, but the fire spread too fast,” one neighbor stated, visibly shaken by the incident.

Efforts to contact the Liberia National Fire Service for assistance did not materialize as responders faced significant delays.

Reports said, the narrow alleys and closely packed buildings in the area hindered firefighters’ access to the fcility.

Tragically, the young boy’s body was discovered by his parents amidst the wreckage, marking a heartbreaking end to the terrifying ordeal.

“It’s unimaginable to lose a child in such a way,” Gaison Doe. We are devastated,”

a family member cried out.

Up to press time last night, the cause of the fire remains unknown, prompting questions and concerns from community members.

While investigators are looking into the circumstances surrounding the incident, the family has been left to grieve and make arrangements to bury the deceased infant.

In the wake of the incident, local authorities are urged to take immediate action to prevent such tragedies in the future.
