The Plenary of the House of Representatives has received a communication from Grand

Cape Mount County Electoral District #3 Representative, Gbessie Sonii Feika, has requested his colleagues to create a budget-line for the Tienii Clinic in Tewor District.

In her communication, Feika informed plenary that Tewor District, the largest district in the county, currently has no health center, except the Tienii Clinic.

The Clinic serves as the main source of healthcare for residents.

She further told her colleagues that Tienii, the district headquarters town, lies about five minutes from the Liberia/Sierra Leone border. It serves an estimated 15,000 inhabitants from surrounding villages.

Rep. Feika said the frequent shortage of medical supplies at the clinic, which has reportedly contributed to a high rate of maternal deaths.

She described the situation as alarming, and therefore, called for urgent legislative intervention to improve healthcare delivery for her constituents.

Following deliberations, plenary forwarded the communication to the Committee on Ways, Means and Finance for review and appropriate recommendations.
