‘Fake Inspectors’ Warned

The Ministry of Labour (MoL), has warned individuals claiming to be Labour inspectors to immediately back off from impersonating or face the consequences of their unlawful acts.

Henceforth, MoL further warned all employers, institutions and members of the public not to engage, cooperate with, or conduct any business with individuals claiming to be Labour Inspectors without displaying verifiable identification.

According to a release, the Ministry further clarifies that no official labour inspection, or enforcement exercise, is currently ongoing, and none will commence until 2026.

It meanwhile, warned that any person or group visiting business entities in the name of the Ministry for inspection purposes is “acting unlawfully.”

The Ministry press release issued on Tuesday, December 2, 2025, said the annual fees for obtaining a Regular Alien Work Permit, has been increased from US$1,000 to US$3,000.

“The process to obtain, or renew only at the Ministry. We therefore called on the business community, and the general public to report anyone purporting to process Alien Work Permit to the Ministry for proper redress.
