Let's Unite To Rescue Our Natural Resources From Foreigners' Hands

THURSDAY, MAY 14, 2026 is National Unification Day and is expected to be celebrated as national holiday across Liberia. Sadly, we cannot gladly beat our sanpkas and happily sing unification song simply because those things that will induce or trigger our happiness collectively or individually including our God-given natural resources are being hijacked by foreigners.

IT CAN BE recalled that President Joseph Nyumah Boakia, in recent cabinet meeting decried the habit of those foreigners who have and continue to rob our natural resources while we, the citizens,  remain bent under the weight of poverty.

CHINESE COMPANIES, IN particular, are engaged in digging our sand, crushing our rocks and selling same to us, thereby enjoying the resources of our land while the citizens are denied the benefits of their soil

NATURAL RESOURCES ARE very important to a people or nation because they contribute to the survival, growth, and development of society.

THEY INCLUDE WATER, forests, minerals, fertile soil, wildlife, sunlight, and petroleum. They provide income for individuals and governments.

MANY PEOPLE GET jobs through farming, mining, fishing, forestry, and other activities connected to natural resources thereby helping to reduce poverty and unemployment.

FERTILE LAND, RIVERS, forests, and oceans provide food for people through agriculture, fishing, and hunting without which human survival would be difficult.

NATURAL RESOURCES ARE a blessing to any nation. When wisely managed and fairly distributed, they promote development, unity, and prosperity for present and future generations. However, misuse and corruption can turn natural resources into a source of conflict and poverty.

UNFORTUNATELY, IN OUR land foreigners explicit out ignorance to steal our natural resources under the guise of being our partners and would dig out sand, crush our rocks and sell same to us at higher prices.

NATURAL RESOURCES ARE a blessing to any nation. When wisely managed and fairly distributed, they promote development, unity, and prosperity for present and future generations. However, misuse and corruption can turn natural resources into a source of conflict and poverty.

AGAINST THIS BACKGROUND, it’s a national mandate that we, the citizens unite cohesively and fight to rescue our natural resources from the dark hands of foreigners, if we’re to truly feel the sense and aroma of ‘Unification Day’ in the truest sense of the world.
