The law of nature largely demands self- preservation at the levels of an individual person, the family, the community and of course, on the national level as a whole.
It means preserving, and protecting self-interest, family interest, community interest and generally national interest.
Interest has to do with ensuring food security, peace and stability as well as building a foundation where love and unity will grow and
develop to safeguard the intervention of those vices that have the tendency to undermine the security of given people.
When interests at these respective levels are preserved in the spirit of love, and national reconciliation, realistic national growth, including developed human capacity, and a culture of civilization are certain to be the way of life.
In Liberia what prevails instead is self-interest at the level of the individual person as opposed to building a culture whereby national interest would serve as foundation upon which the other interests would grow and develop.
This is the reason why the culture of greed, selfishness, wickedness and the abuse of merit system always stand as a way of life against national growth and development.
It can be safely averred therefore that the society is run in the reverse, thus resulting to the creation of what may be described as evil kingdom given those ugly habits that run contrary to the norms of civilized society.
Things are routinely done outside suitable democratic tradition, thereby leading the society to dormancy, if not instability. For instance, the mercy of men in contrast to the mercy of standing rules, and regulations prevails in Liberia, something which has and continues to basket desired growth and development.
The mercy of men is closely associated with gossips, blackmail, lies, injustices, evil thinking, and all other vices that have the tendency to impede democratic rectitude, and further divide the society further.
This is the reason why amateurish individuals, who have the pleasure of seeking the favor of administrative heads through the ugly habits of lying, blackmailing, etc., are often preferred for positions they don’t merit.
This runs contrary to the law of nature, especially in a society like ours, which had tasted war for prolonged years and known its negative effects. When the law of nature is applied in a positive way, growth and development become possible; peace and stability become the protective umbrella of the people, while the society becomes defined, and refined economically and socially.
Let’s apply the law of nature in a positive way by equally sharing national wealth, creating jobs for the jobless that we may own the nation together in a practical sense. Let’s be reminded by the biblical quotation, which says: be your brother’s keeper; love thy neighbor as thy self; create national vision that you may not perish.
Again, let’s take into account that national healing at all levels-social, political, cultural and economic is only possible in the face of national love.
National love determines the strength of any given human domain, because as the old saying goes, in unity, there is strength, and strength is determined by love and togetherness.
