Agents from the Liberia Drug Enforcement Agency (LDEA) River Gee Detachment, have arrested a 41-year-old commercial driver, Kollie Myers.
Myers was arrested with 210 strips of tramadol pills valued at US$9,180, equivalent to L$1.68 million.
The tablets were reportedly concealed inside a public address system (PA System) which Myers was transporting to other parts of the county.
The seizure transpired on May 30, 2026, at about 9 a.m. during a routine inspection at the Killepo Kanweaken Checkpoint in River Gee County.
LDEA officers said, Myers was driving a commercial vehicle from Ganta City, Nimba County to Gbeapo Kanweaken City, when a thorough search of the vehicle exposed the drugs hidden in the speaker.
Preliminary investigation, established that the speaker contained the tramadol.
The illegal substance (contraband) was meant for delivery to an individual identified only as John in Gbeapo Kanweaken City.
LDEA officers are yet to locate the suspected John.
After the seizure, Myers was taken to the LDEA headquarters in Fish Town for questioning where he was formally charged and forwarded to the Gbeapo Kanweaken Magisterial Court for prosecution.
River Gee County LDEA Commander Bill Cooper, urged locals to support the Agency’s anti-drug campaign by reporting suspected traffickers and dealers in their communities.
“Illegal drugs are a serious threat to our youth and to Liberia’s future development. We need community cooperation to stop this trade before it destroys more lives.”
The LDEA says, investigations are ongoing to track down other persons suspected of having link to the shipment.
