Dr. Moniba Talks Tough

By Domingo Dargbeh

Former presidential candidate, Dr. Clarence K. Moniba, said he’s deeply frustrated over the slow pace of development, particularly the long-overdue construction of critical infrastructures.

‎During a recent engagement with the media, Moniba highlighted the groundbreaking of two overhead bridges, which he claimed were committed in 2015/2016.

He said nearly a decade ago, “completion of the bridges remains elusive, but citizens are celebrating the [now] groundbreaking ceremony.”

‎”This is not progress, it is delay, it is mediocrity,” Moniba said, as he called for urgency of accountability and tangible results in governance.

“Why is it so difficult for the country to truly developed?” he rhetorically questioned, pointing to the lack of “significant advancements since the bridges were planned.”

‎Moniba’s remarks comes as the country celebrates yet another groundbreaking for the same bridges, which he argued should have been completed long ago.

“This is a painful reminder of how slowly we are moving, while other countries that were once behind us are racing forward.”

‎Dr. Moniba also cited the Lofa road project as another glaring example of delays in development. “The first phase of the Lofa road project should have been completed in 2020 or latest in 2021, but we are still ‘on it,” he stated.

‎”Real development comes from holding our leaders accountable and demanding results, not slogans, not endless ceremonies, but completed projects that improve lives.”

‎‎ Moniba meanwhile reechoed the phase: “Libera deserves better; our people deserve better, and together, we must insist on better lives.”
