ON MONDAY, MAY 19, 2025, President Joseph Nyuma Boakai convened a Cabinet Retreat at the Tea House of the Executive Mansion, attended by cabinet members, senior government officials and policy experts.
THE RETREAT SHOWCASED government’s commitment to effective governance and strategic planning.
THE CORE PRIORITIES of the ARREST Agenda for Inclusive Development (AAIDA) did not escape discussions at the retreat, especially being cognizant of the rescue mission of the Boakai-led government.
THE FOCUS ON Domestic Resource Mobilization during the retreat is our interest to note because Liberia is no different from many countries that are confronted with fiscal constraints and growing demands for social services and infrastructure.
WE ENCOURAGE OUR government to enhance tax collection, improve public financial management as well as ensure strategic partnerships to undercut dependency syndromes heavily relied on external aids.
EQUALLY SO, WE encourage the President to keep the momentum and energy to periodically convene Cabinet Retreats to evaluate the performances of ministers, directors, commissioners and other officials of government who are obliged to serve the country and its people with honesty and commitment to national duties.
MOREOVER, WE CANNOT ignore the reality that unless those appointed and employed in government are accountable and committed to playing their assigned roles in steering the affairs of the country, our governance system is doomed.
SURELY, OUR INTER-MINISTERIAL collaboration, assess progress, and the recalibration of government actions toward sustainable development cannot be overemphasized, if we are to achieve the current administration’s ARREST Agenda for Inclusive Development.
