The Dogbone Foundation in Pleebo, Maryland County, has donated LD$250,000 to high school students to help cover fees for the upcoming 2026 West African Senior School Certificate Examination.

The presentation ceremony was held at Bone’s Lounge in Pleebo and brought together students, teachers, and school administrators.

Speaking on behalf of the foundation, Mr. Anthony Friday Nathan said the donation was a kind gesture from Mr. Adolphus Bone William to support students preparing for WASSCE. “Other students are unfortunate to have something for themselves. An open mind focuses when energy is given,” Nathan stated, noting that the support is meant to ease financial pressure so students can concentrate on their studies.

Also speaking at the event, Johnson Twaaiklee encouraged the candidates to remain focused, disciplined, and confident as they sit the exams. He wished them success and urged them to make Maryland County proud.

The beneficiaries received the cash donation with gratitude. Students said the timing of the support was crucial as many were struggling to raise WASSCE fees. “This donation is timely and welcoming. We appreciate Mr. Adolphus Bone William for thinking about us,” one student representative said.

Mr.  William is widely known in Pleebo District for sponsoring educational initiatives and supporting students each year. Teachers and school administrators at the ceremony praised the gesture, saying it will boost morale and increase the chances of a strong pass rate for Pleebo schools.

With WASSCE set to begin soon, stakeholders said interventions like this from private citizens and foundations play a key role in keeping students in school and improving educational outcomes in Maryland County.
