The family described Veronica Mamie Doe comment on Spoon Network as “false claims made by an outlier member of the family,” which the family referred to her comment as both “heartbreaking and deeply distressing.”
“The Samuel K. Doe family wishes to reaffirm our unwavering commitment to the values of peace, reconciliation, and unity-not only within our own family, but in the broader context of the Liberian nation. As a family rooted in the history and legacy of the country, we have always stood as advocates for healing, dialogue, and national cohesion.
It is with deep sorrow and disappointment that we have learned of the recent allegations being made against beloved members of our family: Senator Zoe Emmanuel Pennue, Mrs. Lucy Doe Pennue, and the late Chayee Zoe Doe. These individuals are not only cherished by our family, but they have also served their communities, county and country with honor and dignity. The false claims made by an outlier member of our family, Veronica Mamie Doe on the Spoon TV platform are, to us, both heartbreaking and deeply distressing.
Her comments do not reflect the values we hold dear, nor the truth we know. These erroneous claims and allegations are extremely treacherous. They are not only hurtful and harmful to our family, but completely untrue.
We urge the people of Liberia to not be swayed by the noise and confusion being circulated in the media by this self-serving individual seeking attention. We fully understand the painful memories that these topics of discussion evoke for many Liberians. Let us not allow distraction to take precedence over what truly matters: the collective healing, peace, and unity of our country.
This time of bereavement for our family calls for reflection and healing, not division. We therefore make a heartfelt appeal to all Liberians, regardless of political or tribal affiliation to join us in the spirit of reconciliation and nation-building. We do not wish to cast blame on any government official, past or present. Instead, we extend our hand in partnership to all stakeholders and citizens of Liberia. Our shared goal must be the forward movement of our beloved nation.
Let us work together to build a stronger, united Liberia for our children and for generations yet unborn. With love for Liberia,” the statement concluded.
