Officers of the Liberia National Police (LNP) assigned in River Gee County have arrested a murder suspect.
The suspect is being identified as Chris Teh, alias, “Devil Palm.” He is currently under interrogation at the police detachment in Fish Town, the county political capital.
Teh arrest and subsequent detention followed allegations that he murdered his friend, Moses Washington following a minor argument.
Suspect Teh was accused of murdering Washington reportedly with a cutlass at the Putuken Gold Mines in Cheapo District.
Eyewitness accounts suggested that the incident occurred on the morning of Wednesday, November 12, 2025, after a heated argument ensued between the two men under a tent at one of the mining sites.
Other accounts recorded that the altercation began when Suspect Teh reportedly provoked Washington, accusing him of failing to take responsibility for his family, particularly of his daughter, who is said to be living with another man in Putuken.
Hours after the argument, Washington was reportedly relaxing under the tent when Teh in a revengeful manner, allegedly struck him multiple times with a cutlass.
The victim was left unconscious, and was later pronounced dead on the spot.
Following the incident, some of the gold miners apprehended Teh and handed him over to the Community Watch Forum of Liberia (CWFL) in Putuken Town.
The CWFL members then turned the suspect over to the police for further investigation.
