Plenary of the House of Representatives has voted to amend the Decent Work Act of 2025.

The decision followed the presentation of a report from an Ad-hoc Committee chaired by Thomas Remeo Quioh, Representative of Sinoe County District #1.

The Committee was mandated to review “An Act to Amend the Decent Work Act of 2025,” proposed by Sumo K. Mulbah, Representative of Montserrado County District #3.

In its report, the Committee noted that Plenary had earlier mandated the Specialized Committee on Labor and Employment to review the Bill entitled: “An Act to Amend the Decent Work Act f 2025.”

In compliance with this mandate, the Committee conducted an extensive and comprehensive review of the proposed legislation.

The Committee examined the proposed amendments in relation to the existing Decent Work Act; the prevailing labor environment, and the need to strengthen legal protections while promoting fair, safe, and equitable working conditions.

It further considered the legal, administrative, and socio-economic implications of the amendments, and determined that the Bill is timely, and aligned with the national agenda to improve labor standards and ensure decent work for all citizens.

According to the report, the Committee is satisfied that passage of the Bill will enhance the existing labor framework, meaningfully protect workers’ rights, and promote industrial harmony.

In the same view, the Specialized Committee on Labor and Employment, unanimously recommended to Plenary that: The Bill entitled: “An Act to Amend the Decent Work Act” be passed into law; the chief clerk of the House be mandated to forward the duly enacted Bill to the Senate for concurrence, in keeping with Article 35 of the constitution, and applicable legislative procedures.

Plenary accepted the Committee’s recommendations and voted to pass the Bill, and has forwarded same to the Senate for concurrence.
