Court Messenger Gets 30-days Jail Sentence -For posing as Lawyer

Prince Koon, an assistant clerk at Criminal Court A at the Temple of Justice, has been arrested in Buchanan, Grand Bassa County, on December 30, 2024, on the order of Resident Judge Joe S. Barcon for impersonating a lawyer. According to Judge Barcon, Koon represented a client on December 23, 2024, and again on December 30, 2024. During the latter appearance, someone alerted the judge that Koon was not a licensed attorney.  Koon had claimed to have graduated from the Lewis Grimes Arthur School of Law at the University of Liberia.  Following an investigation, Koon admitted to Judge Barcon that he was not a lawyer. As a result, he was sent to the Buchanan Central Prison for 30 days.  Judge Barcon further stated that he would inform the Chief Justice of the Republic of Liberia about the incident.
