Court Clears Bong County Council

By Samuel Flomo, Jr

The Ninth Judicial Circuit Court in Bong County, has ordered the immediate resumption of activities of the County Council after lifting a preliminary injunction that had temporarily shut down its operations.

The Resident Circuit Judge Scheaplor R. Dunbar, announced the decision during the February A.D. 2026, Term of Court.

It was formalized in a mandate issued on Wednesday, April 29, 2026.

The Court further instructed the Sheriff, Major Pery Kanneh, to enforce the ruling without delay.

The case stemmed from a petition filed by a coalition of youth leaders and civil society organizations under the Local Youth Council of Bong County.

Among the petitioners were Jeremiah D. Moye (MRUYP), Genesis S. Kolliemene (YOPTI), Daniel F. Brown (Gbarnga Youth Center), Magnus F. Boxson (Bong Student Union), Jerry Forkpah (FLY), and Prince D. Kollie (Gbarnga YMCA).

The crowd had earlier sought a preliminary injunction along with a declaratory judgment against Superintendent Loleyah Hawa Norris, County Administrative Officer, D. Sam Baryougah Elliot, Finance Officer Silas Tokpa, County Council Chairman, Aaron Sackie-Fenlah, and Youth Representative T. Miller Bondo.

In overturning the earlier restriction, the court ruled that the injunction and accompanying restraining orders preventing the Council from performing its official duties should be lifted.

Following the ruling, members of the Bong County Council were authorized to reconvene and continue their regular legislative and administrative functions.

Authorities confirmed that the Court’s mandate has already been served.

The ruling restores full operational authority to the Bong County Council, bringing an end to the legal impasse that had disrupted its proceedings over the years.
