Costa Claims Pro-Temp Lawrence, Sen. Dillion Attempted Selling Buchanan Port, But…

Popular political commentator Henry P. Costa has accused Senate Pro-Tempore Nyonblee Karnga-Lawrence and Montserrado County Senator Abraham Darius Dillon, of attempting to sell the Port of Buchanan to what he described as a “corrupt French company.”

Costa, who was once a close ally of both lawmakers during the administration of former President George Weah, said their longstanding relationship has now broken down.

Speaking publicly, Costa alleged that Senator Dillon and Pro-Temp Karnga-Lawrence were colluding in the alleged deal.

“Dillon is colluding with Nyonblee to sell the Buchanan Port to a corrupt French company. He is not innocent. I created him, and I have the right to call him out at any time,” Costa said. “I love Dillon and I love Nyonblee, but I am deeply disappointed in them.”

In response, the Office of the Senate Pro-Tempore dismissed the allegation. Pro-Temp’s  Media Head, Roland Solomon Glay, said the bill in question originated from a Senate retreat in Grand Bassa County and focuses on economic decentralization.

Glay explained that the Senate mandated the Committee on Public Corporations to work on the proposal as part of the Senate’s oversight reform plan, noting that the joint committee was headed by Senator Nuquay. He noted that the Senate will “appropriately respond” to Costa’s claims.

The controversy has sparked public debate as discussions around port management and economic decentralization continue.

Additionally, political pundits have questioned the possibility of two persons selling a port that belongs to the country.  By: Wroinbee Elton Tiah/Ablee-Jay TV
