Opposition camp has turned itself into a viper that bites not for defense purposes, but to make political gains at the expense of the governing party.
Instead of advancing meaningful proposals for the general good of the country, most opposition leaders are said to be seated on the fence reportedly paying some media outlets to make “false claims against government officials.”
But the hate they have ‘developed’ over the years against President Joseph Nyuma Boakai led government is pushing some politicians hard into blackmails and slanders only to regain their lost prestige and respect.
On top of the strategy is the attack on public officials accusing them ‘falsely of corruption, mismanagement and bribery a claim considered baseless by many Liberians.’
“The latest victim of this unscrupulous political maneuvering, according to a release, is Pres. Boakai’s appointed some time ago, as acting head of the Liberia Telecommunication Authority (LTA).
Professor Abdulai Kamara, one time University of Liberia lecturer with high degree of proficiency and integrity, worked honestly in the Unity Party led government to earn his living, but his closeness to Mr. Boakai and the Unity Party has however turned him into a target of blackmail, slander, with constant accusations of misappropriating government money without single verbal or documentary evidence linking him to the charge.
A frontpage Africa story on Monday, May 26, 2025, captioned: LTA COFFER BLEEDS,” is a just some of the lies and propaganda that has become the order of the day in opposition circle to tarnish the hard earned repetition of the Boakai’s administration.
The newspaper claimed without evidence that Mr. Kamara reportedly stole a little over US$2 million from the coffers of his entity.
The report, failed to give details on the transaction, including the date of withdrawal, bank account number and what the amount was intended for.
“Report of this kind is paid for in the press allegedly by the opposition and other enemies of the president each week to give the government bad image ahead of 2029,” the release said.
Pres. Boakai political allies, according to the release, “see this as a dangerous trend and have been speaking against it.”
But a senior official told this newspaper that he will personally call a press conference address the issue.
