Community Opens Road In Bong

By Samuel Flomo, Jr.

Residents of Cotton Tree Community in Gbarnga, Bong County have demonstrated the power of unity and self-reliance.

They have undertaken the construction of a new road designed to connect their community with several neighboring villages and hamlets.

With little outside assistance, community members voluntarily mobilized themselves and cleared a route that links Cotton Tree to Cooper Farm, David-Ta, and other surrounding settlements.

Armed with basic tools and a strong determination to improve their living conditions, the inhabitants spent days as they worked tirelessly and advanced the project.

The initiative has brought significant benefits to thousands of residents who have long struggled with poor transportation networks. Community members say, the road will make travel easier, reduce transportation costs, and improve access to schools, health facilities, markets and other services.

For many residents, the road represents more than just a transportation corridor. It is seen as a pathway to economic growth and social development.

Farmers, who often face difficulties transporting produce to market, are optimistic that the road will now create new opportunities to expand trade and increase household incomes.

According to community leaders, the road will become the first major accessible route in the area to both vehicles and motorcycles, helping to connect previously isolated communities and improve the movement of people and goods.

Meanwhile, residents have appeal for support to install culverts that would lead at drainage points to prevent erosion and ensure year-round accessibility.
