Commerce Ministry To Close Mira Gas

By Domingo Dargbeh

Commerce Minister Magdalene Ellen Dagoseh, has announced that the Ministry will take action against Mira Gas and Gas Incorporated.

Madam Dagoseh cited irregularities in pricing and business bad practices related to cooking gas.

The company’s decision to sell cooking gas at a price of $55, despite a standard rate of US$35, has raised concerns about consumer exploitation and market integrity among the public.

The disclosure was made on OK FM on Monday, May 11, 2026, when Madam Dagoseh appeared.

She said, the Ministry’s decision comes amid ongoing investigations into the company’s pricing strategies, which have drawn the ire of both consumers and regulatory bodies.

“Mira Gas and Gas Incorporated was previously penalized, and will face further consequences after our investigation for violating our ministry’s policies.”

She highlighted the importance of transparent and fair pricing in the gas sector.

She said, such discrepancies cannot be tolerated in an industry that is essential to the everyday lives of individuals.

“This is not just about the gas industry; it’s about the broader implications for our economy and the welfare of our citizens.”

The coming weeks will be crucial as the Ministry works to implement changes and engage with the community on some of the important issues.

In related developments, the Japanese government is expected to donate 2,929 tons of rice to the Ministry, which is equivalent to 7,000 bags of rice.

Madam Dagoseh said, the donation is expected on May 16, 2026, in Monrovia. It maybe sold on the market, with proceeds to fund various government projects.
