‘CIC’ Urges Police To Focus On Crimes, Not Music

Popular Liberian musician CIC, has strongly criticized the Inspector General of Police, Gregory Coleman, after the police chief made ‘negative’ comments about the Liberian music industry.

In a video posted online, CIC said the police should focus on fighting crime and keeping people safe instead of talking about music.

“You’re supposed to be focused on law enforcement and national security,” CIC said. “Liberia is drowning in crimes, drugs, and corruption. Are you blind or just distracted?” he rhetorically remarked.

“Our communities are full of zogos. Armed robbers are everywhere. People are afraid to walk at night,” CIC said. “But you’re (LNP) busy making TikTork videos, instead of doing your job,” he said.

He added that musicians are trying to promote Liberia in a positive way, while the police are losing public trust.

“You’re not a celebrity. You’re the head of the police. We don’t need your opinions on music we need protection.

CIC also talked about bigger problems in the country, including: corruption in government, drug problems destroying young lives; police brutality and illegal arrests; abuse of power by police officials using enlisted officers to silence protestors and critics.

“Liberians are waking up,” CIC said. “We see how the police are used against peaceful people, but cannot solve real problems.”

CIC’s comments have gone viral on social media with many online readers supporting him and calling for serious changes in the police. So far, the police IG has not responded.
