President Joseph Nyuma Boakai on Wednesday, October 15, 2025, dismissed the Director General and Deputy Director General of the National Public Health Institute of Liberia (NPHIL), citing “administrative reasons.”
Those relieved of their posts, according to a release, are NPHIL Dr. Dougbeh Chris Nyan, Director General, and his deputy, Dr. Adams K. Lincoln.
Following their dismissal, the President has immediately appointed Dr. Sia Wata Camanor to serve as Interim Director General (Officer-in-Charge) of the institution.
Dr. Camanor is tasked to work closely with the NPHIL Board, the Ministry of Health, other government agencies, and international partners, to ensure the Institute remains stable and continue operating until a new director general is appointed.
The Executive Mansion said the action forms part of Pres. Boakai’s ongoing efforts to strengthen institutional leadership, and enhance accountability across the public sector.
Meanwhile, the President has also made a series of new appointments affecting the Ministry of Justice: Attorney Teklo Maxwell Grigsby, II, Director, Witness Protection Unit; Varney Ali Sheriff, Deputy Director, Witness Protection Unit and
Dr. Stephen D. Paye, Probation and Parole Administrator.
At the Ministry of Internal Affairs: The President appointed Amos T. F. Kemeyah, County Relieving Commissioner, Lofa County.
According to the Executive Mansion, these measures reaffirm Pres. Boakai’s commitment to foster effective leadership, institutional efficiency, and good governance across all sectors.
