The Embassy of the People’s Republic of China in Liberia, has celebrated its New Year. The Year named: The ‘Horse’ was celebrated with enduring success stories for Liberia.
The ‘New Year Day’ celebration was held at a resort in Paynesville, outside Monrovia on Friday, February 13, 2026.
Chinese Ambassador to Liberia, Yin Chengwi, told the gathering that in 2025, China-Liberia strategic partnership has thrived.
Amb. Yin said, under the strategic guidance of both presidents Xi Jinping and Joseph Nyuma Boakai, strategic mutual trust between China and Liberia has been further consolidated to the extent that practical cooperation has been steadily deepened, people-to-people exchanges have grown ever closer, and cooperation across various fields have continued to expand.
Yin said Pres. Xi and Pres. Boakai, have maintained close communications through various channels, which paved the ways for Vice President Jeremiah Kpan Koung, House Speaker Richard Nagbe Koon, and the Senate Pro Tempore Yonblee Karnga-Lawrence, paying “successful respective visits” to China.
“China supported Liberia’s candidacy for the UN Security Council, as a non-permanent member, fully implemented the zero-tariff treatment for 100 percent of Liberian products,” said Amb. Yin.
According to China Customs statistics, Liberia’s exports to China increased by 23.9 percent, reaching US$131 million.
Yin said, the Liberian side has consistently adhered to the one-China principle, which is highly appreciated.
He noted that the building of the two overpass bridges on Tubman Boulevard, and the National Clinical Diagnosis and Treatment Laboratory at the 14th military hospital remain fully supported.
He said, the Bamboo and Rattan Project is progressing well, and the LBS Project, has been completed.
He assured that China will work with Liberia to carry out series of other development programs to further enhance friendship between the two countries.

Friendship.”
Amb. Yin recalled how over the past year, Chinese citizens in Liberia worked “diligently and supported each other, achieving new successes in all sectors.”
He said they made positive contributions to promote the development of China-Liberia relations; practical cooperation, and enhancing people-to-people exchanges; demonstrating a strong sense of patriotism and responsibility.
He meanwhile, extended thanks to his compatriots for their contributions to China-Liberia relations, adding: “The Embassy will always uphold the principle of putting people first; practice diplomacy for the people, and do its utmost to safeguard the legitimate rights and interests of Chinese citizens in Liberia.”
“We hope everyone will take care of their health and safety; abide by the law and regulations; fulfill the social responsibility and unity.”
In the Chinese culture, the Year of the Horse symbolizes vitality, success, progress, and speed, and wish that China-Liberia relations will gallop and make greater success in the years ahead.
This year of the Horse aligns with the Spring Festival in China, the oldest in history, richest in content, and the most influential traditional festival of the Chinese people.
Vice Pres. Koung said, Liberia has followed China’s journey with admiration, and called for sustained partnership and cooperation.
Every year at this time, the Chinese people celebrate the Spring Festival, enjoying family reunions that embodies the Chinese people’s aspiration for a happy and a fulfilling life.
