Grand Kru County Senator, Albert Tugbe Chea, has spoken of the importance of infrastructure development, particularly roads connectivity in the Southeast.
Chea underscored the need for robust institutional, and regulatory frameworks to ensure that concessions are effectively monitored and implemented.
While reflecting on his experiences since the 2017 elections, Chea said road infrastructure has been a focal point of his advocacy. He added: “Everything revolved around roads. They are fundamental pillars for development.”
He urged his fellow legislators to carefully evaluate any concessions brought before them to prevent inefficiencies and ensure accountability.
Chea made the comments when reporters interviewed him in Monrovia on Tuesday, November 18, 2025.
He called for enhanced oversight of public works, highlighting the challenges faced by communities in the Southeast due to inadequate road access.
“We must remember that heavy rains pose significant challenges for road maintenance, and accessibility.”
He spoke in reference to the difficulties in traveling across the country.
Sen. Chea chairs the Senate Committee on Public Works. He expressed optimism about ongoing efforts to improve road infrastructure, adding: “Progress has been made. ” while also acknowledging the need for permanent solutions to the recurring issues caused by climate conditions.
He encouraged collaboration among various stakeholders to ensure that all parts of the country are connected through well-maintained roads.
He meanwhile, committed to work with the authorities at the National Road Fund to enhance investment, and reform efforts to improve infrastructure.
