The opposition Coalition for Democratic Change (CDC), has announced the immediate expulsion of three senior party members.

The Party cited ongoing acts of “disloyalty and violations of CDC’s Constitution and Bylaws.”

The expelled members are Grand Gedeh County Senator, Zoe Emmanuel Pennue, Representative Samson Weah of Sinoe County District #2, and Counselor Kanio Bai Gbala.

According to the Party, the decision comes after nearly 18 months of conducts deemed detrimental to the CDC, and incompatible with its core principles.

In a statement released on Monday, February  9, 2026, CDC indicated that the expulsions were executed in accordance with several constitutional provisions, including Sections 38, 39, 41(A), 42, 44, 45, 46, and 47. Section 47 specifically details the conditions under which membership may be terminated, including voluntary withdrawal, allegiance to another political party, or expulsion sanctioned by the national executive committee (NEC).

While the expelled partisans are yet to react to the decision, CDC has  accused them of publicly undermining the Party, and aligning themselves with the ruling Unity Party government, which the opposition party said failed to maintain good governance.

“The CDC does not condone such actions,” the statement read, noting that the behavior of the individuals involved, has effectively severed all political ties with the party.

Additionally, the CDC warned the public against engaging with the expelled individuals in the name of the party, cautioning that any such interactions would be undertaken at the individual’s own risk. CDC describing the expulsions as a “cautionary measure” to deter other members from acting contrary to the Party’s ideals, while still claiming affiliation.

Despite this internal upheaval, the CDC has recommitted to “people-centered governance,” and pledged to continue its organizational efforts leading to the 2029 elections to unseat the Unity Party.
