CBL Backs 2026 Kpongama Fisheries Investment Confab

Preparations for the 2026 Kpongama National Fisheries Investment Conference continue to gather significant momentum.

The drive was climaxed, with strong collective support and active participation from government line ministries and agencies committed to ensure the successful hosting of the landmark event.

The latest endorsement comes from the leadership of the Central Bank of Liberia (CBL), which on Wednesday, February 25, reaffirmed its commitment to support initiatives that promote sustainable economic development. The Bank pledged to back efforts that enhance access to finance and stimulate private sector investment key drivers for growth in the fisheries sector.

CBL Deputy Governor for Economic Policy, Dr. Musa Dukuly, encouraged members to remain fully engaged in deliberations to resolve outstanding issues and advance the conference planning process with clear and actionable outcomes.

Dr. Dukuly highlighted Liberia’s fisheries sector holds substantial potential for employment creation; food security enhancement, and broad-based economic growth.

He noted that the upcoming conference represents a strategic platform for mobilizing investment and showcasing viable opportunities within the sector to both domestic and international investors.

The 2026 Kpongama National Fisheries Investment Conference, according to a release, is expected to bring together policymakers, development partners, financial institutions, private investors, and sector stakeholders to chart a sustainable and investment-driven future for fisheries industry.

Meanwhile, the 6th Steering Committee Meeting, hosted at the Bank, brought together representatives from the ministries of State, National Defense, Information, Finance and Development Planning, Justice, and Foreign Affairs, as well as the National Port Authority, and the Liberia Immigration Service.
