The Calvary Baptist Church on Sunday, December 21, 2023, climaxed its 63rd-anniversary celebration at an elaborate program.
Ceremony was held at its edifice on 18 street in Sinkor, Monrovia.
According to a release, the anniversary celebration first stated with screening of film show in Todee District, Revival at the and the Calvary Baptist Church, long day sporting activities held on Saturday, December 20, 2025, at a resort in Margibi County.
The Church is a member of the Independent Fundamental Baptist Church, established in 1962, by missionaries from the Mid-Liberia Baptist Church Mission.
The program brought together all the Calvary Baptist Churches in and around Monrovia, Montserrado County, and throughout the country.
The senior pastor of the Church, Reverend Gleekia Larque Vaye, expressed his gratitude, and a heartfelt honoured to the members, and the church’s legacy and community.
Vaye acknowledged the hard work of the Church’s leadership, and congregation for the continue support that made this milestone possible through the 63 years.
He meanwhile, recognized the “faithfulness and dedication” that sustained the church through the years, and conveyed the congregation appreciation for their individual support.
“In this special anniversary, I stand before you with a heart overflowing with gratitude that your unwavering faith, tireless service, and generous spirit have been the pillars that keep our church strong.”
Vaye told the congregation that their individual support was done through every season, whether in times of joy or challenge, they showed what it truly means to be the body of Christ united, prayerful, and steadfast in the things of God.
“Because of your continual support, your prayers, your giving, your time, and your love, we have been able to touch lives, spread the Gospel, and be a light in our community.”
He said, the celebration was not just about the years, but the counted countless blessings that God poured out through each of them.
“May the Lord who sees your labour of love reward you abundantly, and may we continue to walk together in faith, hope, and love for many more years to come. To God be the glory!”
He told the members to keep it warm and encouraged, and reminded each of them that their support plays a significant role in the continued success and growth of the church.
Rev. Vaye then appealed to all Calvary Baptist Church members, who may have left the church to for any reason to come back.
In a special sermon, Reverend William Varbram, encouraged the church to emulate the good example of Prophet Nehemiah, who was unwavering focused on his mission despite numerous distractions.
“When Sanballat and Geshem tried to lure him away from his work, Nehemiah responded: “I am doing a great work, and cannot come down” (Nehemiah 6:3).”
Varbram recalled how Nehemiah himself faced one last distraction, and it is one that the members are going to face as well if they live a life of vision.
