C/J Gbeisay Promises To Protect ‘Judicial Integrity’

Chief Justice, His Honor Yamie Quiqui Gbeisay, has promised to protect the dignity of the legal profession with his full chest, while heading significant reforms to restore public trust in the judiciary.

While at the 9th Judicial Circuit Court observing the judicial congregation in Gbarnga, Bong County, Gbeisay said, under his gavel, the Supreme Court will work tirelessly to reduce corruption in the courts’ system.

 He said the widespread belief in ‘commercializing justice’ in the courts, has undermined the justice system, and weakened public trust in the rule of law.

Gbeisay said the judiciary must be a place where justice is dispensed “impartially, and not for business.”

He assured the public of his administration ensuring that the dignity of the profession is upheld at all times.

Mr. Gbeisay: “It is absolutely unacceptable for a certain group of people to be in the judiciary to commercialize courts’ activities.”

Meanwhile, Bong County Attorney Jonathan Flomo, has termed Justice Gbeisay’s visit to the county as a “significant step to strengthen the judiciary in the county, and an act of firming the rule of law.

Flomo said, Justice Gbeisay’s commitment to upholding the dignity of the legal profession, and curbing corruption within the courts will inspire confidence among both legal practitioners, and the general public.

He said the visit has sent a strong signal of an effort to strengthen the judiciary system.

Some legal practitioners who attended the gathering also lauded Justice Gbeisay for his statement to fight corruption.

The visit brought together judges, associate magistrates, lawyers, and other judicial workers, who discussed ways of improving the dispensation of justice.
