The administration of the Claude E. Wilson Academy, located in Clay Ashland, Montserrado County is seeking government assistance to provide textbooks and other instructional materials.

The private elementary school is tuition-free, with an enrollment of over 300 students, nine instructional staff. The students enjoy “free school feeding.”

The Vice principal, Varney G. Gbellay, said the school has engaged the District Education Officer (DEO) several times for government intervention, but has yet happened in that direction.

Gbellay said, only a team of visitors from the DEO office has assessed the school, but did not return, neither call to give feedback regarding the requested support.

He however confirmed how the school is hundred percent donor-funded, but needs government’s intervention because of donor’s fatigue.

Gbellay said, the school was built by a group of Baptist faith-based organizations, namely: The Each Child Counts Foundation based in the United States of America.

The Reverend Doctor James A. Webster Elementary School Wing, Reverend Doctor Claude E. Wilson Academy was established in 2017 to help some of the less fortunate and underprivileged children in that rural part.

Extracurricular activities for preschoolers, and students include feeding, interior design, drama club and a computer lab.

“The lab is ineffective as a result of limited power supply.”

The school’s facility is situated in surroundings that contains an environment conducive for learning, discipline and spacious for athletes.
