Bong Tables US$3.9M Budget

By Samuel Flomo, Jr.

Bong County authorities have submitted a proposed budget of US$3.9 million for the 2026 fiscal year.

The submission marks a significant financial step to advance development priorities in the county.

The proposal, led by Superintendent Hawa Loleyah Norris, was formally presented by County Financial Officer Siles Tokpah during the second quarterly council sitting.

It outlines planned investments in infrastructure, education, healthcare and administrative operations.

Following the presentation, the Bong County Council, chaired by Aaron Sackie-Fenlah, accepted the budget for deliberation after Chief Representative Isaiah S. Harris introduced a motion that was seconded by council member James S. Gontay.

The council has now entered a 21-day review period, during which members are expected to carefully examine the proposed allocations, and their potential impact on communities.

At the end of the process, the council will decide whether to approve the budget or make adjustments.

Sackie-Fenlah described the submission as the “largest budget proposal in the county’s recent history.”

He emphasized the importance of the process to ensure that the funds translate into “meaningful development outcomes.”

As discussions begin, attention is expected to focus on how effectively the proposed budget addresses the most pressing needs, and whether it can deliver visible improvements in the year ahead.
