Tuesday, June 3 was a joyful day in the lives of Liberian following the country success to securing its place as non-permanent member.
One of the many Liberians, who has expressed joy over the matter is Bong County District #4 Representative, Robert Flomo Womba. He has congratulated the Government and the people of Liberia on the historic and commendable achievement of Liberia’s election as a non-permanent member of the United Nations Security Council for the 2026–2027 term.
He also extended thanks and appreciation to former Presidents George M. Weah and Ellen Johnson-Sirleaf, the Liberian Legislature through the Foreign Affairs Committees, and all local stakeholders in their efforts and role played in laying the foundation for this monumental national attainment.
“I also like to acknowledge the contributions of our international partners, including ECOWAS, the African Union (AU), and all international stakeholders who supported Liberia from the beginning and followed through to June 3rd, 2025 with resounding votes,” Rep. Womba noted.
He said this victory is a proud moment for the nation, and a tangible proof of the government’s growing influence, diplomatic strength, and commitment to global cooperation, noting that being voted as a non-permanent member to the United Nations Security Council does not only raise Liberia’s international profile, but also provides Liberians with a vital platform to advocate for peace, sustainable development, and justice on behalf of the citizens and the West African sub-region.
“President Joseph Nyuma Boakai, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, and all those who contributed to this significant success are recognized and applauded for their tireless efforts. This achievement will reinforce Liberia’s voice in global decision-making and present new opportunities to promote our national interests while contributing meaningfully to international discourse since 1961,” Rep. Womba also added.
He said as a representative of the people, he stands ready to support the government’s engagement at the UN, and looks forward to the positive impact this role will have on Liberia’s domestic and foreign policy objectives, which aligns with President Boakai’s ARREST Agenda.
