Bong County Gender Coordinator, Madam Musu Mulbah, has issued an agonizing indictment of government’s neglect.
Madam Mulbah said her office has been virtually abandoned since she was appointed to the position in 2024.
She informed journalists in Gbarnga that her office has received no operational budget; no supplies, and only two staff members are officially employed.
“Disappointingly, as the head, I am not employed as other staffers. We have been working without pay or official government placement.”
Madam Mulbah described the situation as a “major obstacle to serve women, and marginalized communities.”
“Our office is in crisis. Volunteers are resigning en-masse, staff are unpaid, and basic operations are impossible. This neglect undermines the very purpose of our institution,” she told newsmen.
Madam Mulbah directly challenged the Ministry of Gender, county leadership, and other stakeholders having failed to provide essential support.
She meanwhile, appealed to government to supply necessary equipment, and formally employ all staff members.
She also warned that continued neglect is not only a bureaucratic failure, but a threat to women’s empowerment, and the protection of vulnerable populations in the county.
“Without urgent intervention, the office cannot function, and those who rely on it will continue to suffer.”
Critics of the government are of the opons that Madam Mulbah’s revelations exposed systemic mismanagement, and a disturbing pattern of indifference by authorities.
Her plea is a stark reminder that promises of gender empowerment remaining meaningless when institutions meant to enforce them are left to crumble.
